The heel wasn't scary for me, because I've done the same sort of thing when I made those felted baby balls. The toe needed to be grafted, which I had no clue how to do but I did a quick search on You Tube and found this video. At about 5 minutes in she walks you through grafting the toe.
I used Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Sock Yarn in HS08 Marino and this sock "recipe." I wear size 9 shoes and they are a bit too small for me, so if you have big feet like me you might want to make them a little longer. :)Sunday, February 22, 2009

They look great! Took me a few attempts to get the hang of grafting too but it looks so neat it's worth the effort.
Love your banner btw, I covet that little red suitcase :)
they are fabulous! i have a few of these from my mother in law - wonderful christmas & birthday gifts over the years! having been on the receiving end, i definitely reccomend you follow your idea and make some presents!! ;)
Thanks guys! I know people have been knitting socks for ages but I still can't believe how easy it was. And I thought they would be all big and bulky but they're not, they're like REAL socks! The novelty of it is still very strong. :)
